The Bank of Nevis Limited (BON) commenced operations on 9 December 1985, two years after the devolution of significant powers to the Nevis Island Administration under the new independence constitution of the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis.
The Bank was created out of a desire to provide banking services to the local community.
From a five-person staff and EC$250,000 of capital, to the trusted bank of the Federation.
Opened 9 December 1985 with simple accommodation, a staff of five, and capital of approximately EC$250,000. Five banks already competed in the local market.
BON became the first bank to list its shares on the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange, and was licensed as a Broker Dealer / Intermediary.
The Board adopted the ECCB's Guidelines on Corporate Governance for licenced banks under the Banking Act.
Full alignment with the Banking Act, 2015 (as amended) - fit-and-proper standards applied across the Board and senior management.
Capital resources grew to over EC$82.3M and total assets to over EC$522.5M as at 30 June 2020.
Multi-year investment in core banking, MyBON digital banking, refreshed Visa programmes, and resilience & cybersecurity programmes.
